Nina Ioannidou
Nina Ioannidou is an accomplished classical pianist and experienced educator whose musical journey spans across Russia, Greece, and Cyprus. She began her formal training at the renowned V.I. Safonov Music College in Russia, an institution known for its rigorous standards and rich musical heritage. There, she cultivated a deep foundation in classical technique and interpretation, graduating with a degree in Piano Performance.
Driven by a passion to grow both musically and personally, Nina pursued further studies in Greece, earning a second degree along with a piano diploma. Her years of study in two distinct cultural and musical traditions have given her a broad and nuanced understanding of piano pedagogy, performance, and repertoire.
Her talent was recognized early on, and in 2002–2003, she was awarded both 3rd and 2nd prizes in the Panhellenic Piano Competition in Athens—an achievement that reflected not only her technical skill but also her expressive depth and stage presence.
In addition to her solo work, Nina has extensive experience as a collaborative pianist. For eight consecutive years, she served as an accompanist for vocal ensembles performing at the esteemed Hatzidakis Festival in Greece. Her role there demanded both precision and sensitivity, working closely with choirs and conductors to deliver powerful and polished performances. This background in ensemble playing deeply influences her approach to teaching, with an emphasis on listening, rhythm, and musical communication.
Since moving to Cyprus in 2008, Nina has become an active figure in the local music community. She performs regularly as part of chamber groups, accompanist teams, and ensemble collaborations across various concert venues and events. Her versatility as both a soloist and ensemble player brings a dynamic quality to her work as an educator.
Nina joined the team at Music Academy ‘Aspa Vasiliou’ in 2015 and has since become a cornerstone of the piano department. Known for her patient and encouraging teaching style, she works with students of all ages and levels—from absolute beginners to advanced performers preparing for auditions or public recitals. Her lessons are tailored to the individual, combining classical rigor with creativity, musical exploration, and a strong technical foundation.
Above all, Nina believes in fostering a deep appreciation for music. Her goal is not just to teach her students how to play—but to help them express themselves, gain confidence, and discover the joy of making music.
